Shit--sorry! Forgot to check this thread! Yeah, I'm still lookin' to sell... I'd give you an offer at this point but I don't wanna price myself out of your range, so how much you got? (The musiciansfriend sale price is $150. I figure $125 to cover the blemishes/shipping and (blah) handling's fair, but if that's out o' your range $115 or so is just as fine.

Lysander, are you still selling that stomp box? My Christmas money is slowly dwindling. I still have enough left to mail to you, however.

Actually it's more that the HOG owners are pretty well off, whereas Lysander is a starving college student. I could go to Stutzman's but the selection is kinda small. High end, but small. The HOG has pretty much everything but is so damn hard to find. It's like rummaging in a junk shop sometimes. Oh! I just remembered a tidbit. I was refinishing my Kramer and I wanted to replace the crappy plastic volume and tone knobs with the cool anodized and knurled steel ones so I went to the HOG one day. They didn't HAVE any. What the counter guy meant was that he was way too cool to try and find some for a lowly peon like me. That's another reason why I sort of avoid that place.

I got my first (real) bass at HoG. Still have it, love it. I enjoy going there to browse and look around. Plus, the concert t-shirt collection is tits, and all the CDs in longboxes is fun reminiscing. They've cleaned the place up a bit, but it is still shady beyond shady. Great to browse and then go give your money to someone like Lysander or Buzzo or the guys at Rossi Music in Canandaigua.

Also, Chris lives in Irondequoit. So it has that against it as well, I guess.

Hence my predillication of sending money to Alaska rather than IrondEquoit.

The House of Guitars stole $400 from me. Allow me to relate.

I wanted a better 4-track many years ago. My Tascam PortaStudio03 kept breaking, always on the 4th track. I had to go all the way over to Penfield ("Where Life is Worth Living") to get it fixed. I took it to this old engineer that looked like a werewolf. Three times I took it to him. Three times the recording abilities on the 4th track broke.

I go into the "House of Guitars" in order to get a new one. I am assured that the 4-track I am looking at records at normal speeds. I needed it to do that so I could input it into my PC and make compact discs. So yes, the little weasel of a kid assures me.

I buy it. It does not record at normal speed! It does the exact opposite of what I want.

I go back to the "HoG" and the same piece of shit kid is still working there. I tell him that he was wrong and I would like a refund.

"We don't give refunds."

...

Now, being older I would tell him, "Great, I'll reverse the charges and keep the merchandise. Eat shit." OK, maybe not the last bit. But I am more aware of my rights. Them "not giving refunds" is horseshit. If one of their well-trained techs is going to lie in my face then I am going to call up Visa/Mastercard or whoever and they can duke it out.

But back then I was an idiot and when I was told that I could have it back in "store credit" I accepted. I am still kicking myself over that one.

The final insult was that I had to actually go find old, burned-out "Armand" and have him sign the fucking gift checks. That place prides itself on how CRAZY they are and how DISHEVELED everything is and how RANDOM the place is. It makes me sick. I had to wander about that filthbog trying to find an aging hippie so he could sign the fucking things. No staff would provide any assistance. Unbelievable.

Don't miss that place at all.

Anyway, there is the House of Guitars for you, non-Rochestarians.

Not you, foolscap.

The guy on the right, he's the owner, or one of them.

Lysander is stuck in the Yukon, eating blubber and drilling for heating oil while trying to get a diploma. The sun never rises for six months out of the year (Unbeknownest to him). I figure some bucks, in all singles so he doesn't get cheated, will cheer him up.

Lysander please PM me with an offer for the toneworx before I head to the House of Guitars. I'd rather give my Christmas money to you than to Bruce and Armand.

Claim to Fame update...

In a fit of Christmastime clean-crazy I was going thru my myraid collection of junk, the bottom file cabinet drawer is the tame black hole where all my computer related junk goes*. I came across several DVD's of misc files labelled 'pictures'. Upon exploring one of them I discovered that I had backed up all my C2F wav tracks! Along with all the other Beaver songs that were at one time to be found here! I did a enthusiastic but not very faithful Irish jig at that point. So at this point I am where I was when I left off last year, which is a lot better than being at 'GO' with an arrow pointing to the left, a-la Monopoly.

Still have a bunch of stuff going on now but stay tuned, campers!

* just threw out a three button, serial port mouse. I figure it's lifespan has pretty much passed by now.

Something like that. Actually I was hoping that more than one person would hop on the offer so that I could pretend liek I actually have just a little bit of haggling power to leverage. But yeah, not meaning to be an ass but 50 dollars is kind of low considering the amount of things one can do with this pedal.

by AArdvark » Wed Dec 13, 2006 4:01 pm

Seeing as how you haven't responded to the Fifty American dollars offer, I can only think that you feel like the amount was beneath contempt. The proper haggling response should be along the lines of....

"INFIDEL! I would not sell the fleas off my camel's testicles to you for fifty dollars! I curse the sand you walk! This is a genuine Toneworks effect, I could no more part with it than I could one of my goats. ________ Dollars! And not a penny less, you son of a diseased bag-wan!"
(spit at my feet here)

Then I would offer more than Fifity, but less than the blank you fill in...

THE
PRICE IS
AARDVARK

by AArdvark » Tue Dec 05, 2006 7:29 pm

Well here's the deal with the C2F cover. I had 80 percent of it done when my HD crashed, and crashed hard. The good news is that I had burned that 80 percent onto a CD so I could work on the solos. The bad news is that all the separate tracks are on the doorstop formerly know as a hard drive. That means I have to re-record everything as closely as I can to what I had, then move forward with that...which is good news as I have a much better computer in which to record on. This brings us to ...singing.

The other half (not the better half, tho) has some domestic issues which I will extoll in another post in a minute. So I have asked my 19 year old if he would like to give the song a try. He has been taking voice lessons once a week for the past two years and kicks ass verbally, if you take my meaning. He is currently a finalist in the Brockport Idol thing. He seems hesitant about singing the song because it's kinda out of his range, or maybe he doesn't want to associate with us ameteurs or something. I dunno. I will keep after him, tho. I have this overdubbing idea about the chorus parts that will sound mondo great. Maybe over the holidays I can get him to run through it a couple three times.

So stay tuned, but don't wait with baited breath, I have three more projects going on right now. They are:

1) repainting the motorcycle fneders in time for the spring.
here for details

2) cleaning and repairing the PINBALL MACHINE! Finally got my brother to give it to me!

3) moving all my VHS home movies onto DVD so the world can finally see what a goofus I am. Remember that short video with me sticking the knife in the toaster over and over? It may yet be on youtube....

No. But I am still looking forward to that cover of Beaver's "Claim to Fame"! Nobody has ever covered one of our songs before. The singer's brother has a band and they tried to do "Carnival Baby" but I am not sure whatever became of it. Vark... you'd be the first!
