I would like to ask Pinback if he downloaded or played either Grid Wars 2 or Dwarf Fortress.

by AArdvark » Sun Nov 26, 2006 6:02 pm

I need my xbox controller back from the dorm room!

I tried it with a reglar joypad and cursor keys. Like the surround sound effects!

I demand everyone go get Grid Wars 2.

Here.

If you like anything on this site, nay, anything at all... you will love that game.

It (and Dwarf Fortress) are single-handedly making me revisit the top 100 list in my mind. DAMN YOU GRID WARS TWO!

Their robotron remake uses the mouse. The mario brothers remake is really laughable.

Cholo is apparently a Commodore 64 game. Played the remake for about five minutes and thought "If everything didn't look the same, it'd be great!"

Novella got me into this until I actually played the game...

Is Cholo in the link I posted? I will google-fu it if not. I'll give that game a shot. Thanks for the heads-up, Draal. It's appreciated.

Jonsey: played Cholo? I'd enjoy your insights into Cholo.

To get back on track, there is a whole collection of remakes available here:

I am grabbing the Ghostbusters and Star Wars one to start off. Who is with me?

by Worm » Wed Sep 27, 2006 8:23 am

Hey, guest, I don't know if you're one of these older guys who just loves Pixar films, but I'm guessing for the sake of my post. You see, people will draw any two things fucking. So, any furry who isn't an outright animal fucker, really is either trying to be hip, or just too ugly to get fucked so he found a group with other ugly fucks.

It's not a fetish. Also, are you claiming you didn't want to bone Lola Bunny from Space Jam?

COWARD! Identify yourself!

For Christ's Sake!

Suddenly assume everyone will pick a game with fighting rabbits, idiotic combo manuavers, general swords, and other oddities of the anamorphic variety?

My friends, I have thought about these "furries" having their first sexual break through playing Starfox; this has ruined starfox for me and should ruin it also for you.

A fox with breasts. We'll fuck that.

And I haven't played the game, and won't. Because of the rabbits? No... Because I won't bother with a game which assumes I will pay for it!

It's not even that I'm so accustomed to games where people assume the other guy wins because he knows more moves. It's simply that there is no lock-on and the countering/recovery feels like Shenmue without the instruction to press the button.

Also, now the demo is constantly crashing on me when I beat an enemy. Whatever, thanks for the recommendation.

I will recommend Toribash! You can go find the thread where some guy is describing sex with his girlfriend if you want something more in depth.
Well, whatever, I guess it's not for everyone. Good of you to at least give it a shot, though.

And if you reconsider, you can just e-mail the guy and ask about a goon discount.

It's only $10 if you have stairs in your house.

And hell yeah it's a difficult game, and the controls definitely take some getting used to if you're accustomed to fighting games with elaborate button combos. With some practice, though, you'll be able to pull off fluid and effective combinations of attacks.

by Worm » Tue Sep 26, 2006 1:11 pm

It saves your progress in the full version, but not in the demo for some reason.
Maybe it's to dominate all the 20 dollar bills they can?

It's cute, really. However, I don't like the entire idea of this catch all action button. My moves are constantly getting countered (I refuse to sit and wait to counter) and the roll after being countered seems to work half of the time and the other half I seem to roll into something which sends me into ragdoll mode anyway. Combine that with the baffling absence of a auto-target key when the computer enemies obviously fight with such precision, and I'm left preferring that they just map every single amount of depth to a key.

A - Knock Down
B+R - Smash Head against rock
ALT+K+S+W - Kill them by breaking their spine with a well placed kick.

That, I'd be good at even if I had to use my toes. This hoodoo timing, outflanking, and don't get frustrated and quit (I can't imagine anyone is good at this game) just doesn't jive.

I feel like it's deeper than most because of the sheer number of ways you can hurt your opponenet. Environmental interaction is far more prevalent in this game than many like it; for example, you can run at someone to knock them down, then smash their head against a rock before killing them by breaking their spine with a well-placed kick.

It saves your progress in the full version, but not in the demo for some reason.

Lugaru

This game is nuts. It's a third-person close-combat game with anthropomorphic rabbits. Ragdoll physics and a deep combat system make it an incredibly engaging and freaky game.

This pun was not intended, by the way.

I bought Dream Match Tennis because it was $4.95. If it had been any more, I would have balked. (Balk being a tennis term for running over and punching the linesman in the penis.)
