Then again, I don't think I've listened as closely to it as you have.
The truly great, truly lasting songs offer many possible interpretations! (And, through their various interations, Lou Albano.)

Oh, and you call it the most important recording of 2006, but that cover is at least two years old... I had it in my collection, but have since gone through two generations of computers since then. It got lost somewhere in that time, so thanks for posting the file!
Any time! I'm trying to recall where I first found it, but I'm at a loss. It was unlikely that I just started typing "Cyndi Lauper cover" into Google or what have you. Ah, well.

I reject your reality and substitute my own.

The most depressing song I've ever heard

Download and listen.

It's a cover of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by the lead singer of Death Cab for Cutie and I swear to God I had to get up and walk around in an attempt to prevent suicide. (Does this actually help? Ben?)

It's even worse if you imagine a boy desperately longing for a sex change operation singing as our narrator.

I feel ... unwell. Unsettled. Unwholesomeingesque... something...

... I don't know if this was included as part of a larger album, but you know how the Division Bell came with that little flickering LED bulb? This should come with a jar of adrenaline.
