BONUS VIDEO

Big in Japan? Big in the LAND OF THE BLIND maybe.

I had no idea that they crossed Stephen King and a frog for this band. They can do that now? Cross Stephen King? With frogs?

... is still the creepiest goddamn moment of the 1980s.

And, in searching for the Cyndi Lauper video, it of course came out.

Other clutch moments:

1) The scene where they pan the camera and show the lead singer of A-ha going from real video to comic pencils, while the opposite happens must have taken forever.

2) The fact that the guy gets beat up with a wrench is always a crowd-pleaser.

3) They should have given the guy an Emmy for his performance when he finally turns human at the end of the video. Or an Oscar. Or Africa.

4) He leaves his band behind in the comic where there are angry Germans and, as mentioned, wrenches. I always thought that it was a metaphor as to how the singer was going to go on a solo career but... okay, I never, ever thought that until I realized I had to put something down for number four.

5) The initial disappointment the girl shows when she realizes that the singer dies is very touching. "Oh. Oh well." I'm more distressed when it rains two days after I wash my car.

6) I refuse to be a hipster, it's still the greatest music video of all time.
