He got Saints fans one last time -- they cut away from showing the taped Saints - Raiders pre-season game in order to broadcast the news of him calling it quits.
I never hated him like I did Steve Young, I would like to say. But none of you have ever had a guy like Jerry Rice in your division. Let me tell you: IT WAS HELL.
Really impressed by this:
The nightmares of Rice and his fans came true in the 1997 season opener when Rice tore the ACL in his left knee against the Bucs. His comeback fourteen weeks later against the Broncos was bittersweet: he scored a crucial touchdown but broke his left kneecap in the process.
14 weeks and he was out playing professional football again, Jesus Christ. I am starting my tenth week tomorrow and tomorrow is the big day where I get to actually run. I know he had nothing to do but rehab full time, but still. JESUS. That's reason enough to go into the Hall of Fame.
