Also, it should be said that yesterday's final round of the US Women's Open was both the best and worst things that could have happened to ladies' golf. Here's why:

Best: Maybe the most entertaining final round of golf of the year, and certainly one of the most stunning finishes of any tournament in golf history. Plus, Morgan Pressel was fantastic television, and I believe she will be the future face of the LPGA, instead of Michelle Wie. She is fun to watch, because you never know when she's gonna wing the putter into the crowd, or take out a shotgun and start mowing down spectators. Fabulous television, and I'll bet the ratings go way up after this.

Worst: Anyone who still believed women could play in the men's game need only point to this day to show why they can't. The women, in relative terms, SUCK at golf, and the strangest part is, they're not deficient where you think. You would think it's a distance problem. But some of these ladies hit the ball, on average, longer than the average distance on the men's tour.

The difference is the SHORT GAME, which doesn't make any sense, because the short game isn't about muscles or physique or center of gravity, it's about feel. And these women just do not have it. Christ, they were all leaving putts SO short that they wouldn't have been out of place on your average muni course on a sweltering Sunday afternoon. You feel bad, because you WANT to give 'em a chance, and if it was just a distance problem, but they were icy hot around the greens (which by all accounts they should be), then you can give 'em a break.

But this was just sloppy, bad golf.

So, there you go. Yet another thread about something nobody cares about.

If the website is reading correctly, then this is the greatest story in the history of sports.

You might remember Jean Van de Velde from the 1999 British Open, where he came to the final hole with a 3 shot lead, and then proceeded to triple-bogey it, after which he went on and lost in the playoff, completing the biggest choke job in history.

Today, if I'm reading right, he was one shot up going to the 72nd hole of the French Open, his home tournament, trying to win his first tournament since the early '90s, and going some ways to erasing that embarrassment from six years ago.

Well, ol' Jean Van de Choke dumps it into the water, and ends up with a bogey, sending him to yet another playoff.

And here's where it gets good.

I haven't seen this on TV, so I still think this is a typo, but I'm gonna go with it, because it's so great:

His opponent in the playoff, on the first hole (par 4), shot a double-bogey SIX. So, Van de Velde surely cruised to the victory yes?

Oh, except he made A TRIPLE BOGEY 7!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHH

AHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAAHH

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: The Greatest Story in Sports History.

We love you, Jean.
