Z93 Era Comes To An End

After over 18 months on WKQZ Z93, Sunday Night Hairball is no more. As sad as this moment is, it is also a joyous moment of reflection. Sunday Night Hairball held down a primetime slot, 6-9pm, on a mainstream / commercial rock radio station for close to two years. Who would have expected it? Certainly not me. Don’t get me wrong, I hoped and prayed that it would be a huge success, but in reality what are the odds of going from twenty one straight hours of Limp Bizkit, Korn, Disturbed and whatever the new “Hip Hop Metalirock” band of the moment is to Slaughter, Poison, Skid Row and Bulletboys? The deck was definitely stacked against Hairball but yet week in and week out we rocked old school style and featured as guests some industries legends such as Vince Neil of Motley Crue, David Coverdale of Whitesnake and Bret Michaels of Poison. In closing of this chapter of Hairball, I thank each and every one of the Z93 listeners from the bottom of my heart and the roots of my hair. It has been an honor! And even though the Z93 gig has ended, the last 18 months have fueled my fire, passion and belief in this music.
Now, from the ashes of Sunday Night Hairball emerges The Hairball John Radio Show. The constraints of Corporate America are no longer a factor, the gloves are off and it’s time to throw down for what I believe in. The music, the artists and the fans all deserve to be heard and damn it I am going to give them the voice they deserve. For the time being the internet rebroadcasts will continue with a few “Best Of Hairball” shows while The Acid Chimp and I regroup. We have resources, we have the contacts and like that Bionic bitch Jamie Summers, we have the technology. While we are regrouping we strongly encourage you to submit your suggestions for songs or just your general support. As you can see by the “What They Are Saying” page, the support for Hairball is strong worldwide! Hairball Nation, “The Past will be Back to Kick your Ass” in a way you never knew was possible.
