What "proof" do we have of this? The Dowd Report? What did the Dowd Report ever prove?

Yeah. I don't get how being on the ineligble list keeps you from enshrinement. He should not be allowed to manage or play again (er, not that anyone is trying to get a doughy-faced mop-headed pug-nosed d00d to play first for them BUT STILL) but put him in as a player. The Hall is full of bad guys. In fact, the bad guys make the Hall the wonderful place it is.

Nobody believed you then, nobody believes you now, and just shut up so that the sports shows can get back to talking about more important things, like the color of Jeff Fisher's beard.

So, the question is, what to do with Pete Rose?

Should he be in the Hall of Fame? Well, if the Hall of Fame exists to commemorate outstanding achievement in the field of baseball, then of course he should be in it even if he committed genocide on every other race on Earth except ugly white guys with mop tops, and Hall of Fame museum curators.

Should he be allowed back in baseball? Of course not.

Is he a scuzbag of the highest order? Of course.

So, the way I see it, Ty Cobb and Pete Rose should be in the Hall, or Ty Cobb and Pete Rose should be out. Take your pick.

But Pete, if you're out there: You suck. Nobody believed you then, nobody believes you now, and just shut up so that the sports shows can get back to talking about more important things, like the color of Jeff Fisher's beard.
