it appears that the Angels and Rangers have made the postseason 3 times each and not advanced and the Astros 7 times with the same result.

As for the Yanks chances, they have a lot better offense this season bust as with facing Johnson/Schilling in a short series, facing Martinez/Lowe could be tough.

Ultimately, I think all non-NY fans are hoping that they just face somebody who doesn't roll over. The fielding and base running errors that the Athletics managed to pull out of thin air last year was very worthy of a set of rolling eyes. I mean, geez, they call themselves the ATHLETICS for chrissake. You'd think that they'd have the kinks worked out in their sliding techniques.

Thinking about the AL West series, it occurs to me that the Angels have never won a playoff series. I could be wrong, but I don't think so, as if they had won one in the 80s they'd have gone to the World Series, and they haven't been to the post-season since the multiple round thing started. They don't get anywhere near the amount of abuse for that as they should have. There was a time when you couldn't read an article on the Saints in football without being told that they were winless in the playoffs. I am starting my own crusade to expose the Angels, Rangers and Astros for the same travesties.

(Course, it would help if I got my facts straight. I am only like 85% that those teams haven't ever advanced. Pretty sure, but not certain.)

But at least the Yanks have competition. Compare the records of the starting rotations. Looks to me like the Red Sox should be ahead in the standings, plus the Yankee pitchers have been banged up all year. The only guy who hasn't been on the DL, Mussina, has been awful. Last night, after he got bombed, despite all their depth, the Yanks basically trotted out three total stiffs behind him. Could be interesting. If they actually keep playing.

Just unbelievable. First off -- any media pundit who got their jollies slamming the good citizens of Montreal was proven to be, as I always suspected, a frigging moron. So Floyd's short stay in Montreal at least got every bad sportswriter to STFU with their tired, tired take on how "bad" the fans were there.

But come on -- Floyd and Colon go to Montreal, attendence goes up. Hahahah! Floyd now goes to Boston for a couple of bad prospects. Montreal already cleared out their farm system to get Colon and Floyd. Now they're building? Gimme a break. I hope that the Expos pull crowds in the hundreds from here on out.

Baseball doesn't deserve the city of Montreal. I tip my hat to anyone living in that city and say that they are lucky ones who, by the start of next season when the team is somewhere else, managed to get out under the clutches of a game that is getting worse and worse and worse.
