As the proud owner of the Cheers Complete First Season DVD, I can tell you that Cliff was not mentioned in the opening credits, and only briefly appeared in a small subset of episodes.

Khan probably knew baout him too though. also I'm drunk and ALSO, jonsey sucks. hehheh

Oh but hold on, ALSO I am playing $5/$10 poker at paradise right now. Even tho DURNK i am playing GOOD. losing money tho, but playing GOOD. Strong. STRONG.

Ah. Also, apparently, he never encountered Chekov on the show, as apparently Chekov wasn't depicted as part of the crew during that season.

But I mention that only for information. The movie works beautifully with Khan *having* met him, and the use of Chekov there as opposed to Sulu was the better decision.

For that matter, how did he even know it if it was a "Klingon proverb"? He took over in 1996, and I may have been to busy watching Star Trek to notice, but I don't remember any Klingons showing up on Earth. 'Course, I don't remember Kahn taking over the world either, but that's just me being assanine again. I, too, liked ST2 vewy vewwy much. The only movie in the entire series that can compare is the sixth one.

There was always something that bugged me about that line, but then I realized what it was last night. Khan's first in command is loyal to him because of his superior intellect. I can buy space arrogance: even though they were 'defeated' by Kirk initially, and even though they got sent to a planet which became a dead world, the guy honestly believed that Khan was the smartest guy in the galaxy. They did live like kings for a while there on earth.

But then Khan lets loose that "Klingon proverb" bit. Hey, Hatestien, hate to break it to you, but that line is as human as shopping malls and toll-free calls. Dumb fucker. I occasionally get my quotes wrong too, but then I don't have a host of people loyal to me for my "superior intellect."

That's the line that always gets me. Ooooh boy. Oooh boy-oboy-oboy. Got real dusty out here in the foothills last night, funnily enough.

This was the only star trek movie i really liked. My parents always and still watch this constantly. I mostly enjoy this movie and the original series if i'm stoned.

Gotta agree, Jonsey. In fact, the fact that you said that is enough for me to forget about the mediumwell steak and accept you as a man of culture. I, myself admit to knowing almost every word of this movie. "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. . . or the one", "of course the ship is yours", "you lied", "i exaggerated", "now we have minutes instead of hours", "he exibits 2 dimintional thinking", "he's aksing me, he's asking me and i shall have him", "there's a klingon proverb that revenge is a dish best served cold. . . it is very cold in space". . . boom. . . "i have been and always have been your friend". . . "of all those who i have known, he was the most. . . human"

At least Kirstie Alley was hot in this. . . her thinnist performance i can remember.

WoK is significant both for being by far the best Star Trek movie (or, really, anything) to be created in the long, checkered history of the franchise, but also features one of the greatest scores in movie history, and was a very STRONG influence on my own musical development. Even to this day, lots of my stuff is tinged with Horner's work on this film, if you listen close enough.

Do I "love" the movie? No, probably not. I do like it a great deal, though.
