They did a reworking of The Enemy Below on TOS at one point. I guess they could do a Master And Commander Star Trek movie if they wanted to. In a way they mostly are

I have not yet read the article, but even I realized years ago that [i]Wrath of Khan[/i] could have been plain fiction instead of science fiction, if you had the two of them on submarines and the Genesis Device being a nuclear weapon, and "warp drive" be full engine power.

I'm amazed at the filmmaking analysis in that. The writer is a GOOD JOURNO and the internet needs more of him.
