We blame the metric system for those calls

[quote="Bugs"]What concerned me more was the pitched called for strike two - about five inches off the plate. [quote]

I wouldn't call myself a SABR proponent or anything, but since it's unleashed the best Jays offense since 93 I can't really slag it. But Kim totally used the system against us. If there's an ump out there who is going to be that generous, it just doesn't work.

I'd say that Hinske shouldn't be working the count that late in the game against that guy (Kim has the stamina to be a starter; he's not going to drop dead from an inning's worth of work even if he makes 50 pitches) but there's working the count and then there's not swinging at obvious balls.

Though we've come up short twice, this has been a hell of a series with the BoSox. I just hope we can come away with a "W" and begin to pull out of this losing slump. I like this team too much to see guys traded away as the deadline gets closer.

I'm sure fans of all teams feel this way about their own faves, but doesn't it seem like the Bleu Jays consistently get hosed on close calls?

The one that sticks out in my mind was the botched call on what was a triple play in game 3 of the '92 series.

If the pitch that ended the game tonight that Kim threw against Hinske were any more of a ball, it would have been inside a nut sac. TERRRrrrRRRR-IBLE.
