I believe I've attained at least brown belt status as waterpark man.
Tonight the other security guy and this other dude who has worked there for years met me about 10:30 at night. We went over The Edge first and finally an accident occurred! On the way down the 2nd time, I was thrown from my tube and slammed to the slide. As I hear "Oh shit, are you alright?!" I'm dying laughing with how much fun it was.
Then we decided to get a little crazier. We wanted to ride the Von Dark ride, so with the aid of a screwdriver we accessed the pump room and turned that shit on. To our surprise, the purple LED lights in the "bowl" area of this massive ride were working again! We rode doubles, singles, and without a 2-person float at all. I spend some time in the launch tub area just chilling in the warm water, letting the entrance waterfall splash down on me.. basically all the things I always wanted to take the time to enjoy but couldn't as a "guest".
Then we fired up Bermuda Triangle once we were confident in our lockpicking skills without damaging doors. These 3 slides were recently updated with music and LEDs timed with the 3-2-1 counter set off at the launch area. Experiencing these slides at night was wayyyy cooler than riding them in the day. The lights are much more vibrant inside the tubes in the dark. Fucking awesome.
Finally, as the switches to Rip Tide Racers are in the same pump house, we switched it on. I won one race (it's 4 slides complete with a tunnel and huge hill) due to using the "scorpion" technique and being on one of the more polished slides. We all 3 agreed this was real living as we made sure everything was shut down properly.
We will probably be back to our mischief tomorrow night and this time I plan on taking my "dry bag" for my phone to capture some 1st-person videos. In the meantime, here's part II of "Night Shift in a Waterpark" which I forgot to paste the link to a while back..
