RealNC's 100 songs

Post by RealNC »

Everyone in here is doing one, so why not #metoo? The numbering is just for keeping track of how many I posted. A lower number does not mean I like the song more. Furthermore, this list is mainly for me. It's an excuse to listen to all my favorite songs from past and present. Some entries in this list will sound like unlistenable garbage and unpleasant to you. Good. I listen to them with the volume turned up to 11 (it does go to 11) on full-range speakers.

If a song exists on Spotify, I will also post a link to that, since most music on YouTube sounds like garbage (people upload 128kbps MP3s and whatnot.) If you don't have a Spotify Premium subscription, then get one, you cheap fuck. (Or you can get a free account and simply use the "uBlock Origin" adblocker, giving you access to dozens of millions of songs without any ads )

So, in no particular order and to be finished before 2025, here's the first entry.

#1: Annihilator - Drive

A piece of heavy metal I actually liked. Thank you.

One of the heaviest things I ever saw and heard was Slayer performing Raining Blood live. Still heavy after all these years. (Both me and Slayer.)

I'm not a hater of Imagine Dragons. But that whole "Thunder" thing... it is pretty bad.

Man, I love thrash-era Kreator. Was a gateway into DRI and Pro-Pain for me.

Time for the best piece of music ever made for an Amiga 500 (and possibly for any computer ever):

#6: Captain/Image - SPACEDEB.MOD (aka "Space Debris.")

That was relaxing and enjoyable. MODs, especially on the Amiga, are fantastic.

(Yes, it's not all metal, I also love certain electronic music genres.)

#8: BT - Flaming June (Electronic Opus recording)

Spotify-only because I couldn't find this on youtube (or any other video site.) The only youtube videos of this are partial ones from people with phones and with attrocious quality:

#9: Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

This is basically the soundtrack of my teen years. For a long time I believed this is best piece of Metal ever written (until I realized there's never a "best" of anything.)

Hanger 18 was the song that really separated Megadeth from Metallica for me. I still enjoyed them both, but to me, there was no question in technical ability which was superior. Take no prisoners... take no shit!

I always liked Megadeth more than Metallica. Also, Dave Mustaine didn't fly in his private jet to California in 2000 to complain that Napster is making it difficult for him to stay afloat, feed his family and pay the rent.
