Do people drink bleach?
Since I'm social media-impaired (meaning that I burst a vessel if I look at twitter for more than 30 seconds) I generally am way too late in discovering American-made marvels such as "flat earth" and "intelligent design." So this is probably just another old thing that I just happened to discover way too late. But I'm gonna ask anyway. Are there actually people in the U.S. who drink bleach and think it's healthy, or this is just some super elaborate joke I just stumbled upon?

Well they use chlorine in our drinking water but that's not really the thing you were asking about. Never heard about this being a thing here.

Re: Do people drink bleach?
Last night I was watching videos of people who have theories about... stuff. Like political leaders being of an alien race of reptilians, gravity being a lie made up by scientists, flat earth "proofs", stuff like that. I should note that I was a bit drunk, so these videos seemed way more funny than they actually are.
Then I found something totally new to me: MMS (miracle mineral solution). It is an industrial bleach. Some years ago a scientologist wrote a book that drinking it can cure anything from cancer to acne. And there's a crapton of people who promote it for consumption. This seems to have been going on since 2013 or so, but somehow I missed it.

You should check out Coast to Coast AM, a late night US radio show. There are literally thousands of people in the US who believe this shit and listen nightly, join their podcast club, and they even created a dating website called paranormaldate.com. Nightly you can listen to so called experts talking with a straight face about aliens, ghosts, government conspiracies, etc, and the host trying not to sound sarcastic. My uncle had all his fillings replaced and had a (very painful) spinal tap due to health related shit from this radio show. It's no surprise that the same station that these low information people hang on also plays Rush Limbaugh all afternoon. I get just as much a kick out of this crazy show as I do listening to Rush Limbaugh lie to all the idiots who still like trump.RealNC wrote: ↑Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:17 pmLast night I was watching videos of people who have theories about... stuff. Re: Do people drink bleach?
1. For normal circumstances of drinking bleach, e.g. to disinfect water to make it safe to drink, the correct amount is like 1 or 2 tablespoons stirred in a gallon of water. (I looked it up and I'm way too high, it's more like two drops of bleach in a quart of water, and a gallon is 4 quarts, so what is 8 drops? If that's equivalent to a tablespoon then I was correct.)
2. Some people (stupidly) believe you can drink bleach, say, in extraordinary quantities like full cups or more. "They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them;..." - Mark 16:18

Re: Do people drink bleach?
OK. So, watching the stupidest people on the planet is now my new hobby. I shall post videos of their most celebrated ambassadors in this thread, which I humbly request be renamed to "The Monuments of Stupidity thread."
I shall start with low hanging fruit. In my opinion, if someone has the authority to grant you a degree in anything, they should also have the authority to take it back again later.

Today's gem is this dude who believes the earth's population is less than 1 billion and that human life expectancy is at an all time low.
(For some reason, the video starts with 1 minute of black metal.)

Re: Do people drink bleach?
Hahah that's some shitty black metal too!
I guess a big part of me just kind of assumes that this is trolling for youtube watch numbers but I've seen enough to know people in general can be pretty fucking stupid.
What bothers me about this whole "flat earth" thing and other really far-fetched theories is that they distract us from things we should question and spread so much false information that it further dilutes real conspiracy theories worth thinking about.
