Aint you've ever played Castle Wolfenstein 2 on the C64?
How did I not know there was a sequel?

I've never even seen a C64, let alone played on one. Best I could do was play on a Commodore Pet for a few minutes. One of my teachers from programming class, Mr. Cashman, brought his in so we could try it.

Spoiler Alert for the Wolfenstein games: The Nazis lost the war.

Tonight! Ghost by Miles Vinyards. After a long day of ripping down poison ivy vines from the pine trees in the backyard it's time to relax in front of the fire with a nice white wine

I don't think anyone wants to hear the story, but I made a donkey purchase at the liquor store this weekend... God I wish there was an emote option here that is more sad than just standard sad...

At least I can drink my sorrows away with it. That's the nice thing about alcohol I'm discovering, that it won't take you for bad to good but it will take you from bad to better or good to even better. It's like a bottle of magic.

Tonight! On birthday eve, fast gin fizzes on the deck.
I just made that name up, actually.

Temps dropped back into the 60s, feels quite nice.

Last night the Nasty Pirates came over and we finally broke open the Rumtopf, the concoction I've been brewing for over a year now. The ingredients were two or three bottles of Captain Morgan's spiced rum with six pounds of fruit and three pounds of sugar added. We drank the alcohol over ice, and ate the fruit over angel food cake. Everyone left with damaged livers and diabetic-level glucose levels, so mission accomplished.

Today for lunch I'm having water with a side of water.

That sounds like a lot of fun, the drinking, not the hangover

And I just realized the new signs they can put on oxygen tanks: "Dehydrated water."

Edit: And I just realized that joke doesn't work. Water is H2O1. Oxygen is O2. It would have to be H2O2 for the joke to work, and H2O2 is hydrogen peroxide.

Yes! Good one, Ha Ha!

Or...how about they label oxygen tanks as "laughing gas" so when someone points out it's O2 and not N20 you can say "It's pretty hard to laugh without that gas!"

Now returning to being on topic, since South Africa has banned sales of alcohol during the lockdown, people are making their own. A local beer is common, but the number one (alcoholic) beverage people are making is moonshine, according to MSN News. Confirmed by this story from Reuters: South Africans quench thirst with moonshine during lockdown ban.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - A craze for homebrewing has swept across South Africa since the government banned the sale of alcohol to help hospitals and keep order during the coronavirus lockdown - good news for Frank van Wensveen, who owns a home beer brewing supply shop.

South Africa, which has one of the highest rates of alcohol consumption per capita in the world, imposed a lockdown on March 27 and banned alcohol in a bid to ease hospital workloads, help the public stick to social distancing rules and prevent a rise in domestic violence.

There were several sequels to the game. In fact I did some level design for one of them in the mid 90's.

Liquor is like a happiness credit card. You can have lots of happiness all at once, but you have to paying it all back in depression, with a ton of interest. And eventually you owe a lot more than you can ever pay back.

That's good advice. I'll have a drink or two to wind down before bed and I'm pretty lit. Most days I don't have anything because I don't want to invest the time to nurse one down. I don't see alcoholism anytime in my future.

Since my entire daily routine has been up-ended and I am now buying all my liquor from my local shop via credit card, I thought it might be fun to gauge how I've been shopping compared to normal:

4/21 $192.65
5/06 $212.07
5/15 $151.27
5/25 $132.78

So, cash-wise it's a touch more than usual, but that doesn't account for a change in brands and supplying my GF with wine. I'd say we have a MINOR CORRELATION between "being locked in a tiny fucking apartment since March 9th" and "drinking more and earlier everyday."

Also, I've learned that Amsterdam gin and Tang make a really effective cocktail.
