Posting our rigs

Is there a program you guys know about that will collect info about our computers and make it so we can post it? Down to the video card / monitor level?

"SystemInfo is a simple open source system information tool for Windows" Presumably it will log the information, but if it doesn't, you could probably add code to do so. Correction, it supports export of PNG screenshots, or text in HTML, XML, or TXT.

It's also a portable application requiring no install and no options. The article says it may miss an item (it reported her 8GB memory machine as having 1 stick instead of 2). But hey, you can't beat free and open source if you get, say, 95% accurate.

It's a hardware reporting tool. I downloaded the exe, checked it with AVG and it reported no viruses. Tried executing and Windows Defender "came down like an anvil," and stopped it from running, but clicking the "more info" link showed a button "run anyway" so I did. Looked correct, so I saved the output as text, and got this:

I had no idea I've had it on more than a week since last reboot.

By the way, this computer has cost about $205 total. I spent $125 for it on Overstock, which was 4GB memory and 250GB disk. I opened the machine, cloned the drive and moved the contents to a 1 TB drive. It seemed slow with 4 GB, so I added 4 more and was zippy. Never bothered adding the other 8 I had bought to boost it to 16, not sure why. The memory probably cost $30 and the hard drive $50.

Not bad for a man confined to a wheelchair at the time.
