Flack's Mad Lib Adventure

Post by Ice Cream Jonsey »

Let's see if this inlines:

Maybe?
I hit 2k followers this weekend and, as promised, will now be writing a Mad Lib-style story. You, my followers, will supply the words! (The more the better!) Here's how this will work. Respond (or DM, or email) with a word. You can send nouns, verbs, adverbs, and adjectives.
Let's do him a favor and kickstart this. Flack, my word for you to start things off is "cunningly."

I will add it to the list! Also, Lethargic was the first to respond with "penis" so I'll see if I can get them into the same sentence.

If anyone wants to add their word(s) here, that's fine, too. I think so far I've had about 10 people out of 2,000 followers submit a word.

(In a whisper) The password is "vainglory" (and yes, it's a real word.)

Oh no! I missed Aardvark's word! I will get "turgid" in the next time I do this.

The story is not great, but I managed to cram all the words in.

Perhaps you need to learn to use the word "alphabetical." Not as a word to add to your list, but as a word to use on your list.

As the saying goes, "Proofread carefully so you don't any words out."

Commander, have you ever thought of running for asshole of the year? Why you gotta be like that?

Ah, it's okay, Vark. A year from now I will still be writing, and the "I can't believe Tdarcos outlived...." thread will have been locked.

How much is the prize award? I've since stopped bothering trying to win contests without a monetary award. As The Joker says in The Dark Knight, "If you're good at something, never do it for free."

Besides that, 'Vark, if you can't take a little good-natured ribbing in the spirit was intended, then maybe you…

Wait a minute! The comment wasn't even directed to you, it was directed to a grown man who is fully capable of defending himself. What the fuck are you doing complaining about what I say to Flack, who clearly can take care of himself and fight his own battles? And does so, as the post following yours shows.

Besides, I'm not eligible for an asshole award, I have regular bouts of constipation, so mine doesn't really work all that well. If I was still having regular diarrhea, however…

Besides that, have you forgotten I'm an invalid - a disabled man confined to a bed as effectively a quadriplegic - and lost a leg in the process? Have you no shame, sir, that you have nothing better to do than insult a bedridden amputee?

I think the correct response to you would be "Pot, kettle, black."

Woah, board MVP and Asshole of the Year in the same calendar year?! Does this guy think he's Secretariat or something?

I wish. Sometimes I feel like Paul Edgecomb in The Green Mile in that I suspect I'm going to be alive a long time in this pitiful state for something I did wrong or somebody I pissed off. If I believed in a god or some higher power, I'd be like Ahnohld in Total Recall, when he's about to be assassinated by someone he thought was a friend, and asks, "What the fuck did I do?"

I used to say, "Whatever I might have done wrong - if I did much of anything - I have suffered the punishment for it. In fact, I have paid the penalty, doubled, redoubled, and redoubled again." Now I should probably add what has happened to me since then qualifies as a multiplier summarized as "quad damage."

I should pick another one of those convicts who's on death row (probably in Texas) in 2020 - all of 2019's executions have either been performed or postponed - and see if he (or she) makes it. Or rather, doesn't make it.

I did pretty well with King; he was executed on the appointed day previously scheduled.

The only way anyone improves is by eliminating their mistakes, and the only way they will know they are mistakes is to have them pointed out. Besides, if he can't stand criticism - or even the tiniest bit of teasing - he has no business being a writer.

"Tonight, it's been two years.
You made that comment here.
Here I lie, all alone
And yet I still go on
Hear me cryin' out to you
You said, 'Never, never would you last a year'
Here's a message from me to you
And maybe it will make you hear me."

I have now.

I felt it wouldn't be worth it if, as Flack implies, that I'd only last another year. I wouldn't want to spend eternity not hearing the rest of the story. I hope he writes more, I'd like to know how he got to the rabbit to kidnap him, and what happens to them after the shipyard.
