What's Your New Year's Resolution?
My New Year's Resolution has two parts:
1. Play more video games.
2. Eat at the Olive Garden at least one time this year.
Aim low and treat yourself, that's what New Year's Resolutions are for me.

1. Drive Pinback off this BBS, as he has been trying for many years to do to everyone else.
2. Drink more.
3. Exercise less.
4. Start more pointless arguments.
5. Offer fewer New Years resolutions.

Re: What's Your New Year's Resolution?
I have found out after many years that any hard-start resolution is never going to work. It's like brushing your teeth* .You just have to make it a habit, be regular enough to not think about it.
The phrase: "No thank you I would NOT like another beer" must become second nature at a restaurant or you (or ME!) will keep on sucking down brew until they carry you out in a shopping cart.

Right. My phone will track everywhere I've been, send all my conversations to the NSA but not ask me to confirm the alarm on what is a national holiday. I love our priorities in this country.

Re: What's Your New Year's Resolution?
My friends have an app on their phones that allows them to see in real time, all the time, where their kids are. It even sends them alerts ("Joey has arrived at school"). I think if you want to break kids' addiction to smartphones, install this app. If I were 16 and my parents had an app that told them every I was 24x7, I'd throw that mother f'er in the nearest river.

New Year's Resolution Updates!!!!!.......
For the last half of 2017 I found myself devoting less and less time to video games until I wasn't playing them at all. I thought this would be an easy one to accomplish and it was going well at first as I was able to work my way up to 12-15 hours a week which is what I decided would be a comfortable amount of time to invest. Unfortunately these last couple of weeks have found me playing no video games whatsoever, I plan on rectifying this by playing some this weekend. In the event that it doesn't pan out that why my contingency plan is to purchase a lathe and get into wood turning as a hobby so I may be able to turn this into a win after all.
How have you guys been doing with your resolutions?

I have eaten 0 times at the Olive Garden this year. It has been so long since I ate at the Olive Garden that I only remember the emotions tied to the experience and not the meal itself. Based off of pinback's disparaging remarks concerning the Olive Garden, I am going to go ahead and chalk up eating there 0 times this year so far also as a win.

Re: What's Your New Year's Resolution?
I didn't make any resolutions but this year I have achieved completely quitting the funny cigarettes. At one point i was an every day user but tapered off and now see no reason to have it again. The edibles aren't really the same thing and my body is telling me "no mo smoke in the lungs" so that's it. This hasn't helped me drink less though, so I guess that's the next one to work on. It also hasn't been positive for my mood, I've become even more moody and cynical than i was previously.
I've been eating better and have lost some weight even without any exercise. I have a goal to join a gym (there's one literally around the corner of my block) but haven't made it as far as going there to sign up.

Spend 6 months doing routine cardio and calisthenics from or around your house, something demanding, before signing up. It will build up your core and increase your recovery rate which are both vital, it's free and convenient, and you won't get treated like a schmuck the first time you walk in.Casual Observer wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 3:55 pmI have a goal to join a gym (there's one literally around the corner of my block) but haven't made it as far as going there to sign up.
