Paul's Audio Books

Post by Billy Mays » Mon Dec 04, 2017 8:22 am

Regardless of the outcome of this poll, Paul, what would you want or need to begin the process of recording an audio version of both of your books?

Can you process the audio so you sound like Donald Duck. I mean, that would be the cat's ass!

Anybody can record an audiobook but to read it in a cool processed voice......
They have Grammy awards for shit like that.

Okay, what I'll do is at least one chapter from each of my two books to see how the sound works. Unless someone who has actually read either has suggestions I'll pick some favorites.

Since I did not have a microphone available I used my video camera to record me speaking. And let me tell you, trying to extract audio from a video file tends to be a class 1 bastard, nothing seems to do it right. I probably should have copied the file as a PDF to one of my tablet computers, then read it there. So far VLC will convert the audio from an AVI to OGG Vorbis, but won't produce MP3.

I feel that in the 28 years I've been doing this, it all comes down to this. Audiobooks with our pal Paul.

Also, what email account do you want associated with your Tdarcos account?

tdarcos@tdarcos.com so that nobody can claim my mailbox paul@paul-robinson.us is full or it bounces. I've found many sites do not recognize a hyphen in the domain name, even though it is legal.

One sample, chapter 75 of Gatekeeper

Post by Paul Robinson » Tue Dec 05, 2017 2:08 am

Here's an audio sample: Chapter 75 of my first book The Gatekeeper: The Gate Contracts, (length: approx. 16 minutes) in your choice of .wav (caution: 150 Megabytes), Ogg Vorbis, or .mp3 (either of these are about 11 meg).

Click to listen, right-click to download and listen.

This is my favorite chapter.

Thank you, I really enjoyed listening to that and am looking forward to additional chapters. The emotional investment that went into creating that story really came through in the reading and made it come alive for me.
