Greg's spicy sausage and shrimp pasta

Post by gsdgsd »

A simple, quick dish, and one that's been a hit with successive generations of girlfriends.

About 30 raw shrimp
1/2 pound penne pasta
1 pound hot Italian sausage
6 garlic cloves, minced
1 shallot, minced
1/2 tsp thyme
1 16-oz can chopped tomatoes, w/juice
1/3 cup heavy cream
2 bay leaves
salt, pepper, Parmesan

-Peel shrimp and cut in half lengthwise, leaving end together.
-Cook penne.
-Brown sausage, save a little bit of the grease.
-Saute garlic, shallot, thyme in grease.
-Add tomatoes (w/juice), cream, leaves.
-Add sausage and simmer for 10 minutes.
-Add shrimp, cook on low just until shrimp curls.
-Add salt and pepper as you will; sprinkle with Parmesan.
-Enjoy!

I'd eat this! Neat how there aren't a billion ingredients like most of Don Roger's recipes.

Damn right. I want to try this one once I can net some shrimp not covered in muck.

We're also able to throw shade at Don Rogers's recipes. I think Greg knew that when he started this thread it would one day be used as a cudgel for such a thing.

Is it fair? No? Is it delicious? We'll see!

DUDE. This is totally the name I'm using if I ever release "surf" style music!

Hey! I remember this. I haven't made it in probably a decade but it was always really good.
