I have never heard of anyone making cheese grits with American cheese, and I am well versed in the South and their Blacks.

I've never heard of anyone making a burger with American cheese out here either, especially when I specifically request it.

American cheese - the American cheese of cheese?

To clarify, the "CO" refers to Casual Observer, who stated he's never had cheese grits because "he hates American cheese". I didn't want to clutter up Flack's storytelling thread with that topic, though.

There's a "cheese clogs things up" joke in there somewhere that's beneath you... but not me.

My black co-workers introduced me to that. It's common here.

Biscuitville also used American cheese if you asked for cheese grits but at some point for some reason went to cheddar.

I'm sure before 1911 there were other cheeses used but apparently the processed shit is cheaper and melts more evenly. I bet they use Velveeta a bunch now.

Me, I like to roast some poblanos, chop 'em up, mix in some Vermont White, and you get poblano cheese grits. That'd even convert ol' CO here.

Damn, that sounds great! Are you using real grits or instant?

Do you want the answer, or do you just want me to say "instant" so you can PFFF the entire conversation?

I use these. They're not "instant", but they don't take long, because holy fuck, it's fucking grits and I got a lot going on here.
