Shrimp Chips

Post by Jizaboz »

Anyone else dig shrimp chips? The first I heard about them was in the PC/PS3 game "Lone Survivor". It really shouldn't have taken me so long to discover these.

Original is great but Wasabi so far is my favorite. I haven't tried Hot Garlic or Yuzu & Black Pepper yet.

These were so plentiful in China that you couldn't swing a dead cat (also plentiful) without hitting a few bags. Yes, they are excellent. (The chips, not the cats.)
I don't have to say anything. I'm a doctor, too.

One of the things I enjoy the most is dipping them in wonton soup. Half of the chip turns into a soggy mess absorbing the wonton broth and the other half stays crisp and airy, pop it in your mouth before it ends up on your shirt and you're off to a good start to any meal.

Pretty much any soup, any idea that comes to mind, shrimp chips are amazing.

You can even purchase them uncooked on amazon or at Asian markets. They're thin, translucent slivers of various color that expand rapidly when placed in a deep fryer.

How have you never had shrimp chips prior to 2012?

Huh ok kinda like crispy egg noodles in soup. I can see this working.

Didn't know about them being available uncooked and I guess I didn't know about them period until 2012 because I'd never step foot in an Asian market until around then. There aren't many around here unfortunately. Lots of Mexican markets though.

A Shrimp Expert once told me, "the shell is the shrimp's bones." Words to live by.
