Ok one last thing. There's no reason why these sports can't have the "guy watching the game" rule. You have one ref or ump "watching the game" and when something egregious happens, like Galarraga's perfect game or this one, they buzz down and say "nope. You fucked up." They do it maybe 5 times all season in the NFL. Maybe 50 times in baseball. Boom, instantly solved?

What about those clickers from America's Funniest Home Videos that used to let audience members vote for their favorite video of the day? Just give everybody one of those.

"Was that pass interference or not?"

MLB actually has that: There is a room with about 26 full-on umpires each watching one of every single camera feed (with rewind capability) and pre-emptively trying to determine if there's a call. If the head umpire on the field calls up for a review they just flat-out tell him what the answer is, he does not get a say. The league has a "all call reviews should take less than 60 seconds" performance metric.

It is LIGHT YEARS better than whatever bullshit football is doing.

I don't think it came down to "we want the Rams to win this no matter what." I do think they were under orders to extend the game if close.

I am predicting Isaac Bruce goes into the Hall of Fame today. I'll say why after I see who got in.

Oh shit, he didn't! They usually put a guy in if a team is playing in the Super Bowl. Well, never mind.

I feel like the Saints might have pushed them a little more.

To paraphrase one of my dad's sayings, "the Rams scored as many touchdowns in the Super Bowl as I did."

So here's the problem when you fix this shit so the team you want makes it instead of the team that deserves it - sports in this day and age are pretty self-correcting. You fuck with that and you get a bullshit team that didn't belong taking up space. Three points. What a bunch of fucking losers. Three points!

I'm glad the narrative is that the Super Bowl was terrible. I'd argue that it's the same thing that happened with the DNC "deciding" it was Hillary's "turn." Instead of letting her try to beat Bernie properly, they decided ahead of time and she got her ass beat too. QUIT FUCKING WITH COMPETITION YOU ASSHOLES

Ty Law did go in for New England. So in some respects how I believe those mongrels think is still accurate.

I enjoyed the game. But I watch hockey where if it's 0-0 in the 3rd, it's usually been an exciting game. Last year's Super Bowl where everyone scored a hundred points every time they touched it, I felt like, anyone wanna play some defense or are we just going full carnival game with this one?

I haven't been able to find any evidence for that narrative, do you have any sources to back up your claim?

You didn't try very hard. Google "worst super bowl ever" returns a lot of hits.

What a waste of time watching that garbage was.

2nd gayest half-time show too. I'd say #1 but Lady Gaga did it one year.

How the hell could you enjoy this Pinback? More importantly, how could this even compare the the entertainment of a low-score hockey game?

Low score hockey games are often very exciting, sometimes even more exciting than a 6-5 turkey shoot. I felt the same way about this game. The defenses were EXCELLENT, not good, and to someone who appreciates the game and doesn't just hope the ball flies all over the field and everyone jumps up and down, it was a clinic.

I completely agree that low-score hockey games are usually great. World Cup games too. I just didn't get much enjoyment out of watching this football game after about the 1st quarter because the rest of the game just felt so repetitive.

You can throw in any number of random bits of crazy gibberish into google and have it return a lot of hits. The reality of the situation here is that even a cursory internet search finds the top commentators are agreeing with pinback's overall take on the game. Sure, if somebody wanted to criticize the game for having bad commercials or a terrible halftime show (things I believe ICJ was originally hinting at?) then I guess you could make that argument, but I thought this was a discussion on sports.
