Eric Clapton is the most overrated piece of shit in the hist

Post by pinback »

ory of music.

Someone fight me on this.

Cream had a couple good songs, which were mostly great because of Ginger Baker. Past that, what do you have?

Every single thing from his solo career is the most boring, terrible song ever. He absolutely CANNOT sing -- that, nobody should argue, so what you're left with is, can he play guitar, and while he can make sounds with it, please explain how any of it is VIRTUOSIC, or even interesting.

I mean, what are we talking about.

Please, someone explain to me why Eric Clapton is revered as a God, instead of relegated to cut-out bargain bins.

Thank you.
I don't have to say anything. I'm a doctor, too.

Sorry but I can't argue with this.

Remember "Eric Clapton Unplugged" on MTV? Yeah, me either. Fell asleep.

He's one of those celebrities where I have no clue why they're famous. To me, he's like Paris Hilton. I heard of her, I know she's famous, but I have no clue why she's famous.

So I decided to change that. I looked up Eric Clapton on youtube and found a "greatest hits" list, consisting of 31 songs. So I went through all of them:

I kept notes about songs I heard before. Results:

4 of the songs I recognized were by a band called "Cream", and apparently Clapton was a member. The songs are quite good. Not solo-Clapton though.

"Knocking On Heaven's Door". Even an imbecile like me knows that this was a Bob Dylan song, so that doesn't count.

"I Shot The Sheriff". Bitch, please.

"Layla". That was from a band called "Derek and the Dominos" and Clapton was in it. So doesn't count either.

"Wonderful Tonight". The first song I recognized that's by solo-Clapton. But imo, that song is way too famous for what it is. Overrated. Not bad, just not as marvelous as most people think it is.

"Hoochie Coochie Man". Not Clapton's song. Doesn't count.

So 30 Greatest Hits, only one song I recognize. And an overrated one at that.

And then I found this:

Just look at his intro. Is that supposed to be "world class guitar playing?" Like, seriously?

So... yeah. I 100% agree with pinback.

Why the hell is Paris Hilton so famous?

"It's in the Way That You Use It" is undeniably great, however.
