Popular Bands Where The Singer Can't Sing
Some popular bands, even very, very good ones, have front-men/women who can't sing! I mean, they can make vaguely-musical sounds with their mouth, and put on a show, and often fit perfectly with the band. This is not asking "who are some bands/singers I don't like". Here, I'll give you a prime (heh!) example:
Primus.
One of my top ten bands easily, and nobody would ever in a million years accuse Les Claypool of being able to sing.
List your favorites! If I decide your choices are bad, I will excoriate you mercilessly!

The Kingsmen, "Louie, Louie."
In Mr. Holland's Opus,, Richard Dreyfus, the title character points out "These guys can't sing. And they're playing the same three chords over and over. And I love it. You know why? Because it's fun."

If I had just said, "The Kingsmen," you'd probably either not know who I was referring to or havecomplained I didn't explain.pinback wrote:The question was not about specific songs, but I'm guessing this is as close as you can get to answering the question properly, so I'll take it.
Okay, since you're just referring to bands and don't require examples.
Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs.

Now I demand you justify this answer. I've heard their music and the lead singer does know how to sing. This is why I think examples of performances are critical to making the claim.pinback wrote:Terrible answer. I already said that this isn't your opportunity to just list bands/genres you don't like.
Here, I'll give you another one, hopefully it'll start to sink in:
The Clash.
Otherwise, consider yourself excoriated. (Sense 1; I am not ripping skin off of you.)

Megadeth.
After Dave Mustaine was unceremoniously kicked out of Metallica he formed Megadeth (in part) to prove that he was a better guitarist than James -- and later, Kirk. The verdict's still out on that (popular opinion tends to go back and forth) but one thing that's clear is that James turned out to be the better singer. Oof.
