I feel this is a more reasonable wording than your original demand.

Basically what I was getting at is that you have a natural inclination towards the song since you are a fan of metal as well as the band. Since I do not really know anybody here, I took your original assessment of Paul being a non-metalhead as a statement of fact. This implies that he would have a natural disinclination towards metal, the band and the song. Not that he couldn't enjoy it, just that he is looking at it from an outside perspective. The question mark at the end of the sentence was me inferring that there is a possibility, however miniscule you want to perceive it, that your inclination may just barely be stronger than Paul's disinclination. It is also indicating that my assessment could be completely off base in all regards.

From my own experience, there have been plenty of tracks released in the past from bands that I am a fan of that I thought were amazing when they were fresh and new, and that later looking back on I felt were just ok.

I like music that sounds good. That has a meaning (if it has words) or if it's fun. I'm not into rap but The Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight is so much silly fun that I can quote the entire "bad food" scene from the song from memory, it's that good.

I like most of the music of the '60s, '70s, and '80s, those being my formative years. I like some music from the '50s (the more popular stuff they played on the radio) and then it goes in sort of a "bell curve" for the '50s, '90s, 2000s, and 2010s. Some music I just don't like.

Some I like and I couldn't tell you why. Fall Out Boy's Thnks Fr Th Mmrs is a fun song. And there are others. And some songs that I like and my brother absolutely hates; one being Paul Starkey's The Wedding Song and another being Bob Welch's Sentimental Lady, the latter happens to be one of my two favorite songs, the other being Fleetwood Mac's Everywherre. The opening trill just blew me away.

This is, of course, all subjective which is why I don't criticize other music unless it is presented to me for an opinion. Some things I will like, some things I won't like, "and what's wrong with that?" as Paul McCartney and Wings sang in Silly Love Songs,

Okay, I'll admit it I liked this one. I didn't like the opening for about the first 3 seconds then it stopped being noise and reminded me of the music from E1L1 of Doom. Although I'd have named the song Obey Your Master as the title never appears in the lyrics.
