This is the first I'd heard about how hard it was to "switch locations" back then but it totally makes sense. Something I had read before though is that for weeks it was said that the transmission would come from a station in Australia. Then hours before the actual landing they told that station "Nevermind LOL" and transmitted from the U.S. instead. There was an explanation for this but I don't recall what it was.
I'm busy with work atm but will try to come back to this soon. I'd like to lay out points that lean toward validating conspiracies AND points that blow the conspiracies out of the water.

It's mostly the Van Allen belts and how the astronauts would have become crispy space bacon if they tried to pass through them.
I brought up the Russians independently monitoring the Apollo missions and how they certainly would have cried hoax if there was any fakery. His response was......'They were in on it'
At that point I changed the subject.

Don't you think it's just a liiiiitle odd that aside from one command module blowing up in the lab due to too much oxygen in the chamber, the ONLY mission that the shit hit the fan was the 13th one? Why was there a 13th mission in the first place?

The only reason we went to the moon and conducted space missions was to thumb our noses at the Soviet Union. If you notice, once the Soviet Union imploded and Russia stopped being much of a threat to the United States, funding for NASA was cut drastically.
You might not be aware of this but NASA was not a civilian agency, it is a military agency.

Haha good one! You know what I mean though.. like how they would skip floor 13 in a lot of buildings and stuff. But I don't know how much faith I put in people following that tradition so strictly. Carowinds amusement park had a raft #13 in use at the Raging Rapids ride in the late 80s.
But yeah I completely agree with the your last statement. A lot of people don't realize that NASA is in fact a military agency.

Wrong. A military outfit or particular soldiers only carry weapons if they are in combat, a fighting area or are escorting prisoners. Soldiers on military bases are not allowed to carry weapons off duty unless there is a known threat. A soldier or group traveling in a military automobile will not be carrying weapons. Do you even realize that it's not really a thread where we're actually noting the fact that you haven't yet died from a massive heart attack before a certain famous person. It's like an opposite dead pool with literally only 3 opportunities for any fun at all.
