Outer Worlds

Post by Jizaboz » Wed Feb 19, 2020 12:18 am

For some reason, the commercials over Youtube and such really made me want to play this game when it first came out.. however, Death Stranding for PS4 also came out around the same time and I ended up getting sucked into that.

Today I bought a CDkey off Green Man Gaming (Great place to buy discounted Steam keys, etc) to buy Outer Worlds for PC at roughly 24$.

The Bad & Ugly:
You have to have both a Epic Games account and Epic Games launcher installed on your computer. Why? Because corporate and the guys in Raleigh, NC (Epic Games Headquarters) say so. Fucking stupid. Thanks again for solidifying my opposition to friends and co-workers recommending I apply to your company.

The Good:
This game actually has a good RPG system! Many of the interactions I've made already remind me of things I've done in table-top RPGs because they give me a lot of choices. Also, I was scared off a bit by people saying this game is "funny". This game does funny pretty well for me while being a hell of a lot more fun than Boredom Lands. Good background music and sounds. Interesting characters. Can't rate yet.

Also, so far it seems you can SAVE and LOAD wherever the fuck you want. You hear that ICJ?! You can SAVE and LOAD at any time! I don't think this game even auto saves without enabling some option.

From what I can find, the game does not use DRM. So you should be able to play it without the epic stuff installed. You just start the game's exe.

That makes it really tempting. There's a lot of stuff I don't like about Epic, but after a while I get exhausted by normal bad behavior. Yeah, they are sucking down money from Tencent, yeah all information is probably being sent straight to China... what are ya gonna do.

HOWEVER. The head guy at Epic pulling shit like what he did for the Darq guy though - where it was going to be released on Steam and he saw the hype around it and wanted to barge his ass in front of everyone else and only pay him if it was exclusive to Epic / not on Steam - that's shitbag behavior, only a greedy shitbag would do that. Most developers aren't in a position to burn bridges and state if such terrible behavior is still happening.
the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey!
