I plan on getting rid of my motorcycle soon. The one I currently have is too small for my liking (a 650). It's underpowered and I never get a chance to ride it.
Yesterday I pulled it out, cleaned it up, and took it for a spin just to make sure everything was in working order. I rode for around 45 minutes -- 15 minutes to town, 15 minutes around town, and 15 minutes back home.
While I don't care for this particular bike, and while I really don't have room for a bike in my life right now, it dawned on me that I do my best thinking when I'm on a bike.
I wake up in bed next to another person. I get ready for work and either carpool with my wife to work or drive myself and crank the radio. Then, there's work. Then, there's after work, with the wife and kids. Sometimes there are activities and sometimes there aren't, but it's almost always with other people.
For some reason, driving alone in a car is not like riding alone on a bike. Although it sounds backwards, when I'm in a car I'm focusing a lot on traffic. When I'm on a bike, all that goes away and it's just me and the road and the wind. I seem to come up with a ton of great ideas when I'm on the bike. I'm going to miss that.
