Actually it's called Beyond Castle Wolfenstein.
Ahh, 'Vark, you've just given me another cartoon idea.

Aint you've ever played Castle Wolfenstein 2 on the C64?
I've never even seen a C64, let alone played on one. Best I could do was play on a Commodore Pet for a few minutes. One of my teachers from programming class, Mr. Cashman, brought his in so we could try it.

Spoiler Alert for the Wolfenstein games: The Nazis lost the war.

That cartoon went over my head, like a drunk trying to throw an empty bottle at someone. (Hey, I need to have some tie-in to this thread.)

Hey Jonsey, if Angry Retro is going to post cartoons, shouldn't he have his own thread? Or does that wait until he's done several?

Okay, fine, they have disguised medication in my food. I'll buy that. How exactly are they being paid for it? Pills aren't free, they aren't included in the room costs, they have to be billed and charged to someone, either me or my insurance. How?

Also, there is a problem with that. If I don't eat everything - and sometimes I don't - how am I suppoised to get those medications? Too many times what they feed me does not taste good. "Aha!" you're saying, "hat's where the medication is!" No, Brussels sprouts don't need help to taste bad. But if I don't eat everything I wouldn't get medications I'm supposed to have. At least I think they're Brussels sprouts.

But again, "follow the money" is the key. No money, no medication. It (the pills) isn't there because it (the money) isn't there.

The irony here is that Tdarcos thinks it's the hot dogs the nurses feed him that make him sleepy.
Who said they're feeding me hot dogs? All I said was I'd only put ketchup on a hot dog if I had nothing else and didn't like it bare. If anything, the place doesn't give me enough drugs to sleep, I sleep in "chunks" as I get tired as my body wants it, so i'm probably doing 3 hours twice daily.

Besides, I've posted here the list of drugs i receive that they bill medicare for, if they were issuing (not 'giving", they never 'give" anything) me sleeping pills, they'd be on the list. hell, as i mentioned, I'm even being billed for the 3 bucks worth of Tylenol i got last month!

Ice

So I decided to try whiskey on the rocks, or a rock more specifically, for the first time tonight. After doing some research I decided to go with the Tovolo King Cube ice tray. I wanted a large piece of ice because it melts slower than two smaller pieces of ice and therefor dilutes the drink slower, and more importantly because it looks cool.

One large piece of ice.

I was originally going to go with the ball but I didn't like the idea of a large ball smacking me in the mouth all the time, and because the cube looked cooler. The particular tray I purchased makes six 2" cubes and takes approximately 16 ounces of Fiji water to fill. I had about 8 different color options and selected the blue tray as that is the one I most closely associated with ice.

...As a quick side note, I thought that large pieces of ice were a modern trend but I recently watched a Suntory commercial staring Sammy Davis Jr. from what must have been the 70's where he is placing a single large shard of ice into his glass. He always was a trend setter...

The whiskey I selected was NAS Knob Creek. I didn't want to try it with Scotch because the complexities of flavor getting dulled down and Irish whiskey is too delicate as it is so I went with a bold Bourbon. I felt the 100 proof would hold up to the ice and also because I am not as enamored with Knob Creek as I was originally when I first tried it. I still love it, I still go out and purchase a handle of it as soon as the bottle runs out, it is really fine Kentucky bourbon, it just seems ever so slightly different than my first encounter. A little rougher around the edges, a little more immature, a little less pronounced in flavor. It's ever so minute but I can still tell the difference.

...As a quick side note, the Knob Creek Single Barrel is still just as amazing as when I first tried it. A true legend in its class...

My belief is that the original bottle of Knob Creek I had was in a promotional two pack with half sized bottles of their bourbon and rye respectively and that those bottles had just a little bit better spirit in them than their standard offering. A common marketing device.

So I figured it would be a good choice to try with ice, I also want to prioritize the bottle I currently have so that I can replace it with the age stated Knob Creek that has come back on the market.

One large cube placed in a rocks glass and NAS Knob Creek poured on top and I wait a minute or so for it to open up in the glass and get a little cold and I try it and...meh. Meh? It wasn't very good at all. It was cold which is different, ok, but all of its flavors were dulled as well. It still had faint qualities of bourbon: vanilla, apple, cherry, some barrel spice, but it was all dulled down to the point of almost nothing. And the ethanol taste was softened up a bit but it actually came out more pronounced than usual due to the dimming of everything else. I ended up dropping some coke in it and chugging it down. That part was nice at least. Not the taste, that was still diluted and cheap, just knocking back some booze. That part was nice.

I just don't get it. If you wanted to get drunk really fast then adding ice will just get in your way and if you wanted to take your time and sip on something nice then adding ice will also get in your way of doing that as well. I can see how ice is not just an improvement but in fact essential to other drinks, but from now on it's staying out of my whiskey.

I just don't get it.
