WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Telemarketers went to court on Wednesday in an attempt to stop the U.S. government from setting up a proposed "do not call" list that would help consumers block unwanted sales calls.
..."The FTC is singling out this form of advertising now, what will be next?" said DMA President Robert Weintzen in a prepared statement.
Oh.... NO!!! Laws, no, what ever will they do!
I'll answer your question, Mr Weintzen. Hopefully next they target spam mail in a similar fashion. That's what's next.
Anyway, they are suing the FTC. Apparently they are doing this in federal court in Oklahoma City. Haven't the good people of Oklahoma City been through enough without those sniveling parasites all descending upon their fair city at the same time?
Since I switched exclusively to my cell phone I have not received a single telemarketing call, so this doesn't affect me that much. But if they can start here and progress to e-mail, which does affect me, then that'd be great. I have no problem if it's illegal to annoy the shit out of people to get them to spend money.
