Haha, that's fantastic, 'Vark! I love those little one day projects that add a little bit of style to a room.

I'm tired of my only style being "cluttered". I'm really thinking about boxing up 90% of the stuff in this computer room and redoing everything.

Little bit of electrical tape and hot glue to secure it...I was going to re-route the amber and blue LEDs but they are the super tiny board mounted type. Too much bother for a simple power light. I can rig something off the input power IF I ever get really excited.

Simply remove a couple screw tabs and carve out the back some and it drops right in. it's like they wanted me to do this when they built the antenna back in the early 80's.

Removed Windows off my retro game Magnavox machine and put Linux Mint as the OS. Also took apart the inner tower and bolted the mobo to an inside wall for a cleaner look. The Sata drive was iffy so I put in an old ribbon cable style HD ( I ferget what they're called) and removed half the memory. 8 gigs of ram is way too much for Commodore 64 and Atari 2600 games. Wasteful, I'll use it somewhere else. I've been playing PS2 on the thing while waiting for the OS to install. Good times, good times. Oh yeah, I glued black cover strips all around the monitor to fill in the flat panel screen. I put a test pattern as wallpaper cause it looks cool.

I am deeply touched by that compliment, seriously. Everyone else I try to explain my projects to (at home) just looks at me and just rolls their eyes. "Oh no, what are you building now?" So any compliments / encouragement is really appreciated.

Update!

Wired up the control board to the PC. Took me all freaking day too. Not complaining, just took longer than anticipated.
'Borrowed' some multi-strand wire from work cause the solid wire Magnavox used kept breaking off at the solder joints.

Quick update. Since I need an LED indicator for the hard drive and power on the PC I decided to use the number leds that came with the console set.

I figure that I can wire them up to display 03, with zero being the power indicator and the 3 the hard drive light. The set HAS to have channel 03 displayed. It wouldn't be all retro without it.

There was an accident involving a large rock. Well, it wasn't an accident and the monitor made a noise like fa-whoomp!

But it fit in the garbage bin a lot easier after that.

Trying out the 2600 emulator with a little Yars Revenge

Watched Star Wars on it just to see what movies at grandma's used to look like.

Still have to make curved plastic top and bottom covers to fill the gaps. Need to install the infra-remote sensor in the spot where the original sensor is. Speakers will combine to mono output but I'll run a second line to my stereo poweramp so I can play through the stereo speakers. I think the stereo does surround sound (My boss, the owner of the company was upgrading his gear in his workout room so he gave me his old system) so perhaps I'll dally in the land of 5.1 audio, again.
I'm still waiting for more memory for the PC before I put it inside and strap it down. My nephew upgraded his computer so he gave me his old system. Funny how people just give stuff away just because it's a couple years old.
