I take it Polybius is nothing like the magical hidden in China town conspiracy government machine many claim seeing? I was #7 on that list but it was a game gear instead.

wait a sec, isn't the X-Box One backwards compatible? It doesn't help me because my binder of games were all downloaded off torrent/binary sites but you could probably play your games on the new one. Right?
I probably could but I have a bit of an issue giving them money again when the first two were made so terribly - I also have a PS4 and I don't know that there are any exclusives I am dying for in Xbox One land.

(The other thing is that I can't stand the fact that it listens in on people. I decided to never have an item like that in my home. I do not want to spoil this thread for you by raving like a paranoid lunatic. Every other threads can be the one where we trash things, this is meant for the Xbox One to be mighty!)

Also, there's a holiday sale going on xbox live until I think the 3rd of January which is definitely worth checking out.

Wow, Billy, thanks for such a great recommendation. I will buy this item.

Yeah, the 360 was a piece of junk. I had bought Jack Straw's modded one with a binder of games which was great until I got the red ring thing. I had it fixed though for another $125 and it worked for another few years until I pawned it for $50 and never picked it up.

The 360 suffered from heat management issues which didn't get address until the very tail end of the console's life. The red ring of death (oddly not a ring since only 3 of the 4 bars lit up) indicated a fried system. Sometimes they would just power down to avoid burning up, but people would just turn them back on anyways.

With the release of the Xbox One, the only problems I'm aware of is that the original models had a tendency to chew up games, literally (I think it was called "the predator" because of how similar the sound was of your new system eating your new 60 dollar game to that of the sound the predator makes), but it got fixed surprisingly fast, and the controller usb port and usb cable issues which still exist today can be easily and cheaply bypassed by picking up the PowerA brand Play and Charge kit for $15 on Amazon or Walmart.

If it can display the red ring, why can't it fix itself? That sounds sarcastic but it's not. I don't get it.

While not a game, in the spirit of Christmas, I would like to recommend that you purchase the play and charge kit by PowerA. The usb ports on xbox one controllers are so fragile that they will break from normal use, the same goes for their usb cables. The PowerA kit is only 15 dollars, comes with two batteries with the usb port in the battery itself allowing you to override the controller issues and comes with a usb charging cable that will not deteriorate like the microsoft version will.

Also, look for this game early 2019:

So, you didn't ask about PS4 games specifically, but here is what I have bought for my PS4. I assume most of this stuff is on both consoles.

Read Dead Redemption II: totally fine so far, only played it for a couple hours

Spider-Man PS4: I can't stand that they just call these things "Spider-Man" so I will always call it Spider-Man PS4 or whatever. A high quality game, so far.

The Last of Us Remastered: I had to finally see what the fuss was about. So far I am in a teenage girl's room trying to explore a house. This utter masterwork has all the intrigue of most text adventure creator's first roll with Inform.

Arcania: bought in a bundle, haven't tried yet

Pac-Man: bought on the PS store.

The Evil Within 2: I actually bought this because I was feeling down in the dumps and wanted to buy something to make me feel better. I installed it but haven't played it yet.

Persona 5: My favorite Persona game. I get them all and never get very far.

Polybius: SIGH. You knew some guy would eventually be tedious enough to name a game Polybius. I like all of Minter's other stuff but this.

Butcher: If this is available on the Xbox One store, get it, it's a crazy little $3 2D shooter.

The Last Guardian: I got this because Team Ico always makes games that people feel are classics. I dunno about this one.

Now that I write it all out, I guess a lot of them are PS4 exclusives.

There is absolutely no console vs PC gamer thing going on at Caltrops.

There's liberals versus conservatives.
Anonymous shitposters versus the old guard.
Fans of domestic violence versus constantly REEing man-children.

But never console versus PC. First off, it's because I ran the place and knew that the hierarchy goes like this:

1. Game creator
2. Owner of arcade games
3. PC gamer that also owns all the consoles
4. Guy that owns all the consoles, but no PC
5. PC gamer
6. Single-console owner
7. Dude that just has a Gameboy

Flack is correct, Spider-Man PS4 is awesome. Go get that one. Unlike most people, I can separate the art from the artist. While I would never buy The Witness, pinback is correct that if you enjoy puzzle / exploratory / adventure games at all, you'll love that one.

You came to the right place!

I forgot, you already got RDR2. Is Tomb Raider on sale yet?

Re: What XBox One game should I buy?

I don't have one, but I think people are still pretty happy with that Spider-Man game. Red Dead Redemption 2 is getting great reviews as well, although I've heard some people don't like all the constant side missions.

You should buy Fallout 76.

(The Witness was the right answer.)

Wow, the hostility. If I paid attention on Caltrops then I'd have known about this apparent console <--> PC rivalry. However, I really still don't believe that this Billy Mays character is any kind of real gamer, certainly not someone with a $1500 gaming rig that can best the newest xbox one. Shit, Jack Straw's used modded 360 was good enough for me except for the 3 red ring thing. RealNC, he probably has the cred to say I cheezed out with a console but Billy Trumpster boy? Nah.

Billy, pls to be telling us about your awesome gaming machine and all the PC games you play on it?
