Does anybody actually know what was passed? I mean, I've spoken with enough people "in the know" who are all in favor of this to the point that I'm cautiously optimistic, but considering there's no public option I fail to see what kind of new insurance program we'll get for those who need it most. _________________ paidforbythegivedrewbetterblowjobsfundandthelibertyconventionforastupidfreeamerica |

Well, obviously it's not what we wanted which is a public option. Hopefully they can go back and add it if necessary in the future. My understanding is that it contains:
- serious regulations for the insurance industry, most importantly no pre-existing conditions (now for kids, 2014 for adults),and no lifetime or yearly caps in benefits
- high risk pool for those with pre-existing conditions until 2014
- exchanges to add competition (in 2014)
- subsidies to help lower middle class folks afford insurance
- expansion of medicaid to cover more poor people
- extending age which kids can be on parents' policies
- medium size companies (>50 emp's) have to provide insurance or else $2k fee for all emp's after first 30
- a special panel of some kind charged with regulating rates and benefits, making sure people can afford insurance
- package of tax increases to pay for the subsidies
- individual mandate to have insurance
For me, the pre-existing condition clause was one of the most important since i've had the pleasure of paying six months for insurance before it would cover my wife's pre-existing allergy treatment. There are already lawsuits brewing against the individual mandate but it seems to me it can only hurt the insurance industry if that part of the law is shot down: they still have to cover pre-existing conditions but don't get to benefit from all the additional payers.
I promised myself that if Obama got this done, not only would I donate money but also would actively work to help campaigns this fall and beyond. Looks like I'll be working the phone banks. |

| It's a real coup for the insurance and pharmaceutical industries. Obama is turning into a pretty good republican. |

OH please enlighen us in what people "in the know" you speak of? Your liberal college proffesors, leading people in the medical field who happen to be on your paper route in Alaska? DO tell! Or is it just other teen angst morons you happen to pal around and commiserate about how the goverment hasnt held your pathetic hand enough thorughout your life. Down with the EVIL CORPORATIONS MAN!
You should know whats in the bill! Obama said in his campagin that ALL new bills would be put online for 5 days prior to his signing, and that the process of crafting the bill would be aired on CSPAN! Oh also no earmakrs, except in Nebraska, Florida and Lousisana!
One group of people will have the right to health care, another has the responsability to pay for it. Get the recipient/ provider ration to 51-49 and you'll never have to worry about a republican or any other party ever holding office again. _________________ White, black, Chinese, Latino..

Yeah, what with that whole expanding government and raising taxes thing. Great conservative!
Anyway, yeah, do not dig on that last bit. So people are required to have some form of insurance? Is that the Max Baucus Dick MoveTM that would fine people for not having any? And what's this about establishing a board to tell the industry how much they're going to charge for shit, that's not very cool either.
As the board's token Person On MedicadeTM, I can tell you what it's like, which is alright depending on where you live pretty much. Not all doctors take Medicade for the simple reason that the government takes approximately this side of forever to get the paperwork processed, and that's right now, nevermind after all the new people get on it. Also, medicade doesn't cover dentistry, and (in my and other blindies' cases anyway) they don't cover eye or vision-related medical visits/operations/surgeries/etc. Which seems rather like the "we wont' cover you if you have a pre-existing condition" policy they're railing against in other parts of the bill. I know you'll point out it's different in that you'll be dropped from coverage entirely with regular insurance as it stands today, and it's a good point, but I still consider that an inconsistency.
Love the shit out of the rest of that, though. _________________ paidforbythegivedrewbetterblowjobsfundandthelibertyconventionforastupidfreeamerica |

No health insurance covers dentistry, in fact there's no such thing as real dental insurance. There is some crap that you pay $12 a month and they'll cover 50% (only if you keep the membership the entire year, otherwise nevermind). |

Yeah, that President who thought giving huge checks to the banking industries was a great move was a real dick, I'm glad we're in agreement on this matter.
And I suppose you think that it's somehow better to hand out huge wads of taxpayer money to failing businesses and then just go "K, here you go, now don't do it again"? Excuse me, but fuck you. If I'm paying these pricks salaries they goddamned well better get on the ball and make more fuel-efficient, less shitty cars. _________________ paidforbythegivedrewbetterblowjobsfundandthelibertyconventionforastupidfreeamerica |

Well, no, they also make violent threats about politicians, spit on congressmen, cut people's propane lines, and hurl bricks through windows such as that of the Monroe County democratic party office. They're a bunch opf ignorant racist hicks. |

Haha! I don't know what to believe any more. Because I could actually see one of those guys cutting a congressman's gas line to his grill. I ... I find that an acceptable way to register your discontent with the government. Dude comes home from a hard day's work of either being an obstructivist or socialist... just wants to have a nicely grilled cheeseburger for dinner... thaws the meat, goes to the backyard to start the grill- FAAAAAAAAAAKKK _________________ the dark and gritty...Ice Cream Jonsey! |

It wasn't even to the right house! Though yeah you're right there's no inherent danger in cutting a gas line ... everyone should do it! Though in all seriousness cutting gas lines is how Timothy McVeigh got his start. I mean there's a reason people get nervous around right-wing radicals.
It's almost funny how completely full of shit people have become. This would be an issue to republicans if democrats did it and it's only an issue to democrats because republicans did it.

Friends of mine that are doctors and nurses, you stupid shit. People who have to work with these problems every day and see what's going on firsthand. Jesus. Where is all this bile coming from? I'm starting to think you have some sort of personal vendetta against me, Mr. CloWn. Would you care to expound?

Have you read all thousand pages of the bill? If so I'd certainly like to know what parts from it you found most objectionable.
